Description
Provisioning is a step of Lifecycle Management. It refers to all the steps leading up to having a new machine functioning on the network.
It can include:
- Spec'ing and purchasing hardware
- Entering hardware into an inventory control system
- Reserving rack space
- Setting physical network ports and acquiring IP addresses
- Allocating storage
- Creating a virtual machine
- Installing the OS
- Adding host to backups
